Each year, the Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association recognizes members who lead our industry through excellence, service, and stewardship. Explore the awards below and submit a nomination.

1. Distinguished Professional of the Year

(formerly Virginia Nurseryman of the Year)
Honors a VNLA member whose career has advanced the green industry through long-term service and leadership at the local and/or state level.

Eligibility: Nominee must be a VNLA member or work for a VNLA member company. Past recipients may be nominated again after five years.
Selection: Previous honorees and the VNLA Executive Committee. Presented at the Annual Membership Meeting.
Nominations: Open late fall

2. Environmental Steward Award

Celebrates individuals or companies that model environmental responsibility and best management practices (BMPs) in daily operations.

Eligibility: Current VNLA individual or company member in good standing.
Selection: One award may be presented annually if criteria are met; otherwise, it may be skipped.
Focus: Demonstrated BMPs and a net-positive environmental impact.
Nominations: Open late fall

3. Young Professional of the Year

Recognizes an exceptional VNLA member age 40 or younger who demonstrates leadership, innovation, industry involvement beyond their job, and meaningful impact on their company.

Eligibility: VNLA member or employee of a VNLA member company.
Selection: Previous honorees with approval by the VNLA Executive Committee. Presented at the Annual Membership Meeting.
Nominations: Open late fall
